The decison by the NZRFU to rid New Zealand rugby of a women's NPC competition has had a devastating effect locally with many clubs not fielding a team in the local 2010 competition. Wellington Football Club has had a proud history of fielding a women's team with many players representing the Black Ferns in the past, including Shona Ballinger, Erin Rush, Karin Blue, and Melodie Robinson.

Let's hope, the conintued revival of the Wellington Football Club will see a ladies team return to Hataitai Park sooner rather than later.
